The Problem

1

GP appointments harder than ever

2

Emergency care overstretched

3

Staff exhausted and scared to speak out

4

Budgets have soared – but outcomes haven’t

It’s not the staff. It’s the system. And it needs to change.

Be part of the change

“We believe in Reform. Respect. Recovery. Help us make Mann healthy again.”

We Start with Health and Care, Because People Deserve Better

(Mannin Alliance – Building a Fairer, Stronger Isle of Man)

Our Focus

We start with health and social care because it is the foundation of a fair and functioning society. Right now, the system is under pressure from every direction. Waiting lists are growing, services are inconsistent, and decisions are made by senior managers far removed from those who understand what patients need. The Mannin Alliance believes that reform must start here. If we cannot deliver safe, efficient and compassionate health and care, we cannot claim to be delivering good government at all. Our goal is simple: a health and care system that is accessible, affordable and accountable. It must support the most vulnerable and provide help at the point of need. This is not just one policy area among many. It is the test of whether our public services still serve the public.

Our First Priority: Fix Health and Care for Good

The Mannin Alliance will rebuild the health and care system from the ground up. Our approach is practical, transparent and financially responsible. It is the only way to ensure care is both effective and cost effective.

We Will:

Guarantee access for all. Every person should be able to reach essential health and care services, wherever they live on the Island.

  • Put professionals in charge. Decisions must be guided by doctors, nurses, carers and social workers, not senior officials or outside consultants.
  • End waste and duplication. We will remove overlapping roles between Manx Care and the Department of Health and Social Care so that public money is spent where it makes a real difference.
  • Prioritise prevention. We will strengthen community and social care, support early intervention and focus on keeping people well rather than waiting for crisis.
  • Support the workforce. Fair pay, flexible working and mental health support will help retain skilled staff and reduce burnout.
  • Be transparent about costs and outcomes. The public deserves clear information about how money is spent and what results it achieves.

This is not about endless reviews or headline-grabbing plans. It is about delivering a safe, sustainable system that works for patients and professionals. The current government’s approach has failed to manage costs or maintain standards. We will do both.

Why This Approach Works

A well-run health and care system does not need more layers of management. It needs clarity, competence and compassion. Every extra layer of bureaucracy is a layer between a patient and their care.

  • Decisions are made faster and based on clinical evidence.
  • Budgets are spent efficiently with visible outcomes.
  • Staff feel valued and supported, reducing turnover and agency costs.
  • Patients receive care earlier, reducing expensive hospital stays.

This is how we deliver better outcomes at lower long-term cost. It is how we restore public confidence and rebuild the principle that every resident, no matter where they live, has a right to timely, high-quality care.

Our Wider Vision for a Better Island

Although health and care are where we begin, our mission reaches further. The same failings of waste, delay and over-management exist throughout government. The Mannin Alliance will bring the same disciplined, people-focused approach to every part of public service.

  • Housing: Build and maintain affordable, secure homes so local families and key workers can stay in our communities.
  • Economy: Support local businesses, improve training and attract investment that benefits the Island directly.
  • Governance: Reduce unnecessary senior roles, cut the culture of review without result and insist on open decision-making.
  • Cost of Living: Stop wasteful spending and redirect funds to where they actually help households and communities.
  • Environment: Protect our landscape while building a clean, secure and sustainable energy future for the Island.

We will do this with one principle in mind: public money must deliver public value.

Our Commitment

We start with health and care because that is where help is needed most. But our purpose is broader, to reform how government operates, spends and delivers.

  • Deliver services that are efficient, not bloated.
  • Spend responsibly, not recklessly.
  • Put decisions in the hands of those who understand the work, not those who manage from a distance.

This is the only credible route to effective and affordable public services. Anything less is more of the same failure the Island has endured for too long. The Mannin Alliance stands for practical change, fairness and real leadership. Together, we can build a government that listens, acts and delivers.

Our Priorities

01

Access That Works

• More GPs. Faster appointments.
• 7-day urgent and minor injury care in every community.

02

Invest Where It Matters

• Raise GP funding from 5% to 20%.
• We want that raised to 20%, like the UK standard.

03

Public Truth, Not Spin

• Show the public where money is going.
• Cut the waste in top-heavy management layers.

What We Believe

This isn’t about blame

it’s about building something better

A system that works

The public and our frontline workers deserve a system that works.

Isle Change

If we fix health, we can fix Mann.
